Top 10 Awkward Moments at Work

10. Zipper Trouble

Unlike when you're at the grocery store, you have to see these people every day. So if you get caught with your zipper down that's how they will remember you from that day forth. When you walk past Susan and she looks at you and smiles, it's not because she's happy to be at work. She's seen your Mickey Mouse underpants and that's funny to her.

9. Cell Phone Going Off

You can smack a supervisor's child square in the mouth and it wouldn't upset them as much as a cell phone going off. The phone never goes off around your friends, but as soon as the supervisor comes around it blares. Not only do you get written up, you also just let every one know they "shoulda' put a ring on it."

8. The Silent Treatment

Working in customer service is a chummy gig. You see Joe, you smile and say hello. He smiles and says hello. It expected. So what do you do when you and Joan are at the printer and you say hello and she acts like you're not there. Does she have her iPod going? No. She heard you. She's just ignoring you. Stand in that awkward silence for a full minute while you wait for the fax to go through.

7. Saying Thanks For That Baby Raise

You've worked hard all year. Paid attention to every stat they can keep track of and now it's raise time. Heck yes. You'd be happy with a dollar raise but you expect a dollar fifty. After all you've worked harder than anyone else and deserveit. After going through your review you're hit with the actual figure. 12 cents. Hey, now that's 57.06 over the course of the year. Go buy yourself something nice. By something nice I mean cheap whiskey.

6. Bathroom Encounters

There are a number of awkward situations that can take place here. They can range from stinking it up and someone coming in right after, to not stinking it up and still being blamed for it when someone comes in right after. The holy grail of bathroom embarrassment however, occurs when old lady middle-aged forgets to lock the door and young man gotta-go bursts in. The shrieks of the victim make it awkward for the entire office.
5. Locked Out

You've been given the key card/ key/ pass code to the door just last week. You're officially employed. You left it at home. For the third time this week. You can see the awkward "How responsible is this jerk" look on the supervisors face when they come to answer the door, for the third time this week.
4. I Thought You Were Sick?

Sick is such a relative term. You've planned this one out right. Coughing on Monday, hacking on Tuesday, and all but fainting on Wednesday. The time has come. You deliver your Oscar worthy performance at 7 in the morning on Thursday. You go to start playing the video game you rented in advance just to find out instead of Batman Arkahm Asylum, the video store had a Cooking Mama disc inside the case. No big deal. Unfortunately while in the video store you see a fellow employee on their day off returning Batman and looking for Cooking Mama. By the time Monday roles around it's clear your supervisor heard everything.

3. What Kind of Website is That?!
You've been waiting to read up on the new Mario game that's coming out next month. The website has some ads that run along side the article. As you click over to the next page an ad featuring a half naked woman and beer pops up. You continue to read as the only employee that is stumbled by such images walks past. Later that day you're in the supervisor's office explaining why you were looking at "porn" at work.

2. Wrong Email Address.

Man Fran is dumb. She smells, she's ugly, she's a suck up, and she's no good at her job. You have to let someone know. Frank sympathizes with you. You type up a three paragraph run down of you dislike for Fran. You ask Frank about it later and he says he never got the email. You go back to your inbox and hit sent. You see the email was not sent to Frank but to franstupid@yourwork.com . Supervisor's office again.
1. Lingering Stench
Arby's for lunch was excellent. They sure know how to roast beef. You have a good sized cubicle in the back. No one ever comes around and it's quite comfortable. The Arby's goes to work after an hour or so and you're shooting em off like the Overture of 1812. It also happens to be the only day your supervisor wants to come over and talk to you about your performance. You see her eyes water up at the one minute mark and her entire face begins to sour at the 2 minute mark. The awkwardness is so tangible you can taste it. Literally. And you wonder why you only get the 12 cent raise.

SUPER REVIEW-

Ruffles Sour Cream and Onion potato chips.

With all the hype leading up to the release of this bag of chips does Ruffles deliver? Declared to be the flavor of the year by critics expectations were high coming in. I picked up my ticket for the Midnight Release last week and was surprised when I showed up at the grocery store last night. A number of fans had all ready lined up ahead of me and the cosplayers were out in force. A guy dressed as the Frito Bandito was the best dressed as far as I was concerned. Even though I had reserved a bag, by the time I got to the counter I was sad to see that my bag had an indented lower left corner. I hoped the chips had not been damaged.

Upon arriving home with the chips I scraped my tongue clean with a piece of broken glass I had found in the driveway. I sat in my reviewing chair and opened the bag. The bag rustled loudly and my mother told me to keep it down. It was now one in the morning and she was trying to sleep. Low marks for sound control. The chips on to were large and that pleased me. They were indeed unlike normal potato chips in that they were "ruffled". This was next gen stuff I was dealing with. The chips were sprinkled with small green specks. I closed my eyes and placed the chip on my tongue. It was salty and had the taste of onion, and perhaps sour cream. I began to chew. It was clear from the beginning that the ruffled chip had an all together separate structure than that of a regular chip. It was rigid and required more chewing. I didn't know how to feel about the extra work.

That was before I got out the dip.

The dip was French Onion, a hearty dip. More of a sour cream chili than anything, but I digress. Normally my dip was so stout normal chips would break under the weight of the cholesterol filled glop. These ruffles were so expertly crafted they could hold up to 80 grams of dip per chip. That's alot of flavor friends.

Final Verdict

A great chip if you're looking to dip. If you prefer to be as lazy as possible when snacking these may not be the chips for you. The sour cream and onion does not overpower the potato flavor. A good choice for the cost.

Top 10 - Vehicles in Video Games

10. Kuribo's Shoe - Super Mario Bros. 3

You know a vehicle is good when it has a little windy handle on the side. This shoe enabled Mario, for one level, to jump on spiky enemies and piranha plants. The idea would carry over into Super Mario World as an ability of Yoshi. Word to the wise; lose the shoe before the end of the level or you won't be able to run and get a star card.

9. Rambi - Donkey Kong Country

This Rhino could take on even the toughest enemies and could plow holes in walls to reveal secrets. While other mounts in the game were quicker and could jump higher, they were also easy targets. Rambi could take it.

8. Snow Speeder - Shadows of the Empire

A precursor to the excellent Rogue Squadron series, the Hoth level in Shadows is excellent. Compared with the offerings in the Super Star Wars series the 3D element made it feel like you were actually on Hoth. The rest of the game's vehicle situations were tolerable at best and the wonky Speeder level could be frustrating. But the Snowpeeder handled like a dream.

7. The Black Car - Cruisin World

I know what you're thinking; "Finally an automobile on this list of vehicles". This one is a dream. The car of choice for any one that wants to get first place and see that 64 bit babe with the trophy.

6. Bicycle - Paperboy

You see that bottom right black triangle? That was your world in Paperboy. Before GTA was around this game let you drive around and vandalize the neighbor hood. At the end of each level you could take the bike off some sweet jumps for extra points.

5. INCOM X-Wing Starfighter- Rogue Squadron series

The Rogue Squadron series had a number of excellent ships from the Star Wars universe. having said that, if you want to get the mission done right you'd grab an X-Wing. What type of apocryphal jerk selects a Naboo Starfighter to make his Death Star Run? Highlight the X Wing and hit the C stick to find out why the X Wing is the fighter of choice for Rogue Squadron.

4. PTX 4-a Vital Suit - Lost Planet

If you're going to take over an ice planet invested with giant bugs you better come with more than a machine gun. That's where a Vital Suit, or VS if you prefer, comes in. Wayne's father personally upgraded the PTX 4-A with exclusive abilities, such as a chain saw arm. Get in close to those bugs and fire it up.

3. Mario's Kart

Who saw this one coming? Mario Kart is the most fun you can have with four controllers and four wheels. While the other Karters have some slick rides, if you want to be classy you go with a classic. Don't think Mario can finish #1? Give the paddle to me and stow the blue shells and see what happens.

2. Arwing - Starfox series

Let's face facts. 2d Vehicles meant one thing; left to right. Star Fox changed all that. The first time players sat down and played Starfox they were blown away. That's right, the above image was as cutting age as it got back then. The subsequent Starfox 64 was the best in the series and many await a true successor to that game.

1. Pickup Truck - Rush 2 Extreme Racing

If you have never played this game and it's excellent stunt track mode no doubt you're confused. A truck? Yes. The game had a number of fast and exotic cars, but they weren't good for stunts. They would explode easily. Not the truck. You could ram the truck into the corner of a ramp and it would flip around endlessly without being destroyed, assuring you the high score. If this game ever comes out on the Virtual Console, pick it up. Funnest vehicle around!

Rant - Mario is better than Sonic

A no brainer to everyone save for the jerks raised on the teet of the Sega Genesis. You know who you are.

Sonic is a hedgehog. An animal. Mario is human. Boom! Lets go to Genesis again Chapter One, verse 26. That's from the get-go a good enough reason to not play as the blue rat. Mario is sentient due to god given ability. Who knows what gives the hedgehog the ability to talk. The only talking animal I've ever heard on record was in the Garden of Eden and it was Satan pulling those strings.

Also, Mario is older and therefore better. Lot's of things are like that; cheese, wine, solid oak colonial dinning tables, and Jedi Masters. Sonic wouldn't be around if it weren't for Mario. He would be Pac-ing around or some other version of a dumb Atari game.* Mario pioneered the genre and is therefore a better version of each iteration.

Math Lesson of the day. 1<2>1. Head hurt? Let's role!

Super Mario Bros(NES) > Sonic wasn't around.
Super Mario Bros 3(NES) > Who Sonic?
Super Mario World> Sonic The Hedgehog + Sonic 2 + Sonic 3
Super Mario 64(N64) > Sonic CD
Super Mario Sunshine > Sonic Adventure
Super Mario Galaxy> Sonic and the Black Knight + Sonic Unleashed x 37

Also...

Is much greater than,

.

Come on Sonic. Really? Do I have to quote Leviticus? That bible reading was uncomfortable the first time around, but I will go there if I have to. What there aren't other unaturally large pencil legged girl hedgehogs around? At one point Sonic actually plants one on the lady. Ech...

As far as spinoffs are concerned Mario again is much better than Sonic. For direct comparission place a copy of Mario Power Tennis in your Wii. Play it. Remove disc and place a copy of Sega Superstars Tennis in the Wii. Play it and compare. The games speak for themselves. I don't have a Delorean outfitted with a flux capacitor but I'll take a guess that the up and coming Sonic & Sega Allstars Racing will be a poorly executed, blatant rip off of Mario Kart.

To conclude this rant it may be obvious that this once hottly contested issue is now a no brainer. The argument may be compared to trying to explain that freedom is better than slavery to an early 1800's plantation owner in lower Arkansas. Still there are those (few) individuals that walk around with Sonic wallets and collect those dreadful Sonic comic books. We can all agree that can only be the result of a damged psyche determined to grab hold of a lost childhood. However, we can all also agree that any grown man who walks around in Mario shirts and hats while sporting Mario temproary tattoos must have the pinacle of taste and social refinements.

*Atari is older than the NES, but is garbage. An exception to the rule.

Top 10 Things I Hate.

10. Wet Towells
Or even towells that feel wet. I just took a hot shower. Unless it was boiling water that just hit the towell, it will feel like frost. No thanks.

9. Seafood
Like cannibalism, you would have to grow up eating the stuff to have an appreciation for it. Ech. I'm told Oysters are an aphrodisiac. Slimey shelled turds? On what planet is that becoming?

8. Rude People
Oh Hi! You're the first person on earth to ever be inconvinienced! Let me just sit here and take that well deserved ire.

7. Dogs
Again, you'd have to be raised around such creatures to tolerate them. If I smelled bad and crapped in the yard I'd be kicked out of the house. Does anyone need a room mate?

6. Twighlight
Not the princess, the movie. If you're going to make Teen Beat The Movie, at least call it that.

5. Pennies
Does anything cost a penny? Maybe aggregate sunflower seeds but those come in bulk. Hey Government, take all the pennies and build a couple copper/zinc bridges.

4. Salt & Vinegar Chips
Urine flavored fried potatoes. Mmmmm.

3. Gum underneath the chair
What jerk put this here? Where am I supposed to put mine?

2. Oraganic anything
Oh goody. Chewy grannolla bars hard as rocks and produce saturated in feces instead of chemicals. Can I pay 40% more for these items? I may?! Joy!

1. Snakes
Finally a hatred I can back up with the scriptures. Genesis friends. These vile creatures are so revolting even the toughest man can't stand them. Don't be ashamed Indy, everyone with half a brain hates them too.
